Spring 2020 One Room Challenge – Week Four

Whoa, how is it week 4 already??? And what exactly have I done?? With Ramadan and Eid festivities coming to an end, I now have more time to focus on Zayna’s room, I better because we’re at the half way mark, yikes! So unlike last week, ,WE HAVE AN UPDATE!

The first 3 weeks were spent online shopping, as quarantine restrictions had most stores closed. Luckily I’ve finally started receiving some of the items on the must have list, the most important being the headboard (from Wayfair). It’s not quite the shade we were hoping for, but I still like it a lot. The rich velvet texture feels so lush, Zayna loves it! The accent chair came in as well, from Structube, and again similar velvet finish. Here’s a sneak peak of both! Yes the stripes on both was on purpose.

Next on the list this week was tackling the main wall in Zayna’s room.

I REALLY wanted to add a ship lap wall. I know it’s been done all over the place (thank you Joanna Gaines), however it’s a feature I don’t have in our house. I wanted nice wide planks to give it a modern look. I had my husband draw them on and because the headboard already had stripes, I found the overall look being a little too stripy.

So we ended up settling on a simple I guess board and batten type of accent wall, which basically was a pretty economical option. BUT, I’m not 100% sure about it, as most things go. I’m not sure what I can do at this point but learn to love it??? ***It’s been changed, I’ll update next week what we decided on! Thank you to my ever patient husband.

So that brings me to paint options. And boy oh boy this one has me going crazy. To dark accent wall or not, blush walls or blue, or to go totally neutral with a basic gray. Ugh! I also haven’t received the artwork, which I think would help me determine wall color.

Next week more decisions will be made, and hopefully I can share the painted room. That’s the plan anyways. Also, don’t forget to check out the other amazing bloggers of the One Room Challenge.
