Spring 2020 One Room Challenge – Week Two

Bedroom Design Board

Welcome to week 2, where I’ve gotten off to a bumpy start! I knew trying to design and finish a room while in quarantine was going to be challenging, and I’ve not been proven wrong. Item’s I’m trying to order are not available, or on back order. I can’t get any help online, or its taking days for someone to respond. Not to mention shipment being delayed by 4 weeks! Having said that, I am understanding of the situation, so with patience we are moving forward.

What we have managed to do is come up with a design Zayna and I both like, yay!

Here’s the FIRST look. I say first because as things go, there will most likely be changes and challenges.

Design inspiration is from the Oliver Gal painting that Zayna fell in love with. We’ve had to order it online, without actually seeing it, so hoping its as vibrant in person. The main colors of her bedroom will be the blue gray and the blush pink color, with some darker accent colors mixed in.

Next, I’ve created the floor plan for the bedroom, and the biggest dilemma I’m having is with the bed. Zayna wants to add a seating area in her room, and to accommodate I’m thinking of using a queen headboard and downsizing her bed from a queen to a full. By turning a full bed onto the side we can use it as a daybed. Not totally sure about this idea, but let’s see how it goes.

Left is the configuration with a queen bed (which is what’s in there currently) vs a day bed in a full size mattress. Although I’d like to stick to a proper bed, I do like all the space that’s opened up. The final option would be to just get a full bed, either way the queen is too big for the room and it’s gotta go.

Finally here are the sourcing details for the room. Like I said, now that I’ve started to purchase the items, I might have to make changes because of availability.

  • 1 Pillows from Urban Barn
  • 2 Queen Headboard from Wayfair
  • 3 Accent Chair from Structube
  • 4 Mirror from Cb2
  • 5 Painting from Oliver Gal
  • 6 Knobs from Cb2
  • 7 Desk from Ikea
  • 8 Lighting from Cb2

Hopefully by next week we’ll have started clearing out the room, and I’ll make a final decision on an accent wall. REALLY hoping we can make some headway in the coming week.

Also don’t forget to check out all the the other transformations over at ORC.

Looking forward to seeing how this all comes together. And the art we’re both using for our ORC bedroom makeovers looks like it could be front the same artist!

Wow just took a look at your post and you’re right! I haven’t seen the painting just ordered online. Excited to see what you come up with as well!
